I bought a Cyrus CD8SE, PSX-R and 6vs2....sounds great! Only bad thing it that now that you really hear the music, most artist sounds bland!

At last a system that can match my previous Arcam Delta series (my new Harmon Kardon's is packed needly in boxes after just a year because they couldne't make the cut).

Sonor Audio (Palladium series). Indep 6ohm, 91 dB efficiency, 100W RMS. Floor standing. Might not be very fimiliar with this (made in South Africa..check web site). Great sounding music speakers. Ps. I run a separate system for AV (Onkyo807, 507 and Mission 73 and 71 series)

Out of curiosity, why Cyrus 6 amp and 8 CDP? usually, and because it's so groundbreaking, the choice would be 8VS2 or updated version and 6 SE CDP.

To be honest...I think I was a bit misguided by the salesman. I did not now this was a big difference between the 6vs2 and 6XP. I wanted to couple 6XP(40watt more than enough) with 8SE/PSX-R (quality sound) but ended with the 6vs2. Still brilliant system..I hope!

Don't worry mate you enjoy your system. The 6vs2 is a great amp for smaller rooms.

jules.

...especially with speakers that sensitive!

And you can always slave on an 8-Power and bi-amp. Works a treat BTW.

Thanks all! Feel much better...it was hard earned cash. Do you believe the speaker sensitivity is a good or bad thing? Should I invest in speakers before upgrading the system?

Depends on room size. Yes, generally, higher sensitvity on a 40 watt amp is absolutely fine. Works very well with my system.

Have a look in this glossary here.

My speakers are under 85dB in sensitivity, so according to this site, I need more than 100W to get the same volume as a 25W amp on your speakers, all else being equal.

Of course, that doesn't mean that you won't benefit (hugely) from more power because it will give greater detail, soundstage, control and dynamics. It's not an exact science, despite all the science!
