Hi

Unpacked my hi-fi after a couple of years in storage and am very disappointed to find that it sounds worse than my car radio. It appears that the problem is the cryus IIIi. It is paired with a Cyrus Power Poweramp which seems to be OK. My questions are (i) is it worth taking the IIIi to be investigated and fixed or should I look to upgrade? (ii) if I upgrade, to what (cyrus preferred), and (iii) if I upgrade, with the new amp work with my existing Poweramp?

The rest of the system: Cyrus DAD 3Q Cd player, Linn Keilidh speakers

Hi

Thanks for the advice. Would you advise sticking with cyrus, and does the model matter in terms of pairing with the poweramp?

You may as well stick with Cyrus - they make decent stuff, and it's all particular look! Any of their pre-amps can be used with your power amp. Your system will sound better with a dedicated pre-amp.

Fantastic. Thanks very much.

Just had a look at your flickr images - very impressed by your store. If it was local to me i would certainly swing by to check out some new kit, but i suspect that my wife will be thankful that i can't!
