Appreciate any thoughts on this. I'm wondering if there are any sonic benefits to matching my 8SE with the 8vs2 amp (can be had for £599), or go for the award winning and best buy K2?

I'm happy with my current amp as to me it's as smooth as silk and a lot more power in reserve than the Cyrus, and just a tad more than the K2.

Or should I just try a PSX-R on the 8SE.

The upgrade bug has bitten! Again.

Graham.

My belief is that you'd need to get a PreVS2 and 8 Power, possibly XPower to make a change from the MA worthwhile. If you fancy an upgrade that keeps you on a similar sonic signature, why not hunt for a A5 power amp and use the 3.5 as a pre. Then later change the 3.5 to a proper pre.

Another thought is that MA could upgrade/tune the 3.5 for you (perhaps).

Says the guy with the high end system. Isn't that the point of this forum though, to discuss equipment?

Each component over £1000, can't be anything but high end!

I detect a hint of irony in Andrew's post.........

Andrew - do you agree with the assessment - get an A5 as an upgrade not the 8vs2? Cheers.

Thanks Andrew. Some bargain PSX-Rs out there, and I can try and sell again if no real sonic improvement to my old ears.

Take a look at AVI's website. It seems £900 per component is entry level. LOL!!

My kit 'high-end'? It's barely even mid-end, in my opinion. Maybe if I had Plinius/Leema....

Mike_Schmidt:Heres what I would do, put the PSX on the CD player and someday send your amp back to MF for a upgrade or tune up. There really really good amps and better than Cyrus gear IMO.

Hullo Mike. Think I will try the PSX-R. Anyone lend me one for a year or two?

The MF 'fine-tuning' doesn't extend to the A3.5 as yet. At £400 I find this a tad expensive to be honest. The PSX-R from £350 seems to be better value for money.

I would run your system off one of these, your noise floor will disappear on your music.
