Cyrus Amp to TV

I have a Cyrus Intergrated 6vs2 that i have connected to my Panasonic Vierra TV by the 3.5mm phono/headphone jack and the sound is shocking. The cable wasnt cheep and was recomended by a friend, it sounds great when using my MacBook Pro or iPod/iPhone.

What would be the best way to connect the TV to the Amp to get the best sound? I got told to use a Optical cable but the Cyrys amp dosent have this.

Does the TV not have simple stereo outputs?

If it only has digital out then you'll need a DAC.
