Crossing the divide - Marantz CD6002 versus Arcam CD73 or Rega Apollo

There are some terrific comparisons on CDP's and amps in the same general price range but not a lot of help on comparisons between groups. For instance, I am interested in knowing whether the extra $'s are worth stretching to an Arcam CD73 rather than buy a Marantz 6002? In Oz, there is a $200 difference in price (or about 30% premium)

A similar question applies within groups - for instance is the Marantz 6002 amp (with 5 stars) as good or better than the Marantz 7001 with 4 stars? In Oz, there is a $300 difference in price (50% premium).

I'd buy the apollo before the 73. Veeeeerrrry good cdp. The marantz is good but bright for my taste. The audiolab 8000cde, the nad c525 and c542 are also def worth a shake.

Sorry... yes it's worth the premium... but more some in some cases than others.
