Pianos in those conditions require systems such as the DamppChaser one to be fitted, and for humidity to be controlled in the room generally. Without these measures all manner of problems would be encountered, even on the most expensive of instruments. It will be no different with a pair of speakers - they can't be expected to survive being subjected to such conditions without appropriate measures in place.

Any self respecting 'piano' retailer would give that advise at point of purchase and ensure it is implemented correctly.

Now I have no idea if the OP's post is genuine but I would assume the same goes for any self respecting Hifi dealer in such an environment, especially if you spend $20000+.

They SHOULD, but there's plenty of retailers in both markets that don't give good advice, sadly. It's a valid comparison.

I bet this guy lives near the cost, and probably has there window open alot of the time. For corrosion to happen like this you need some serious moisture in the air its not just surface rust, this is actively growing like how salt does on marine hardware.

Id also assume it would be enough to also deform the cabinets.

You see damage like this using speakers in a garage.

Doesn't matter anyhow this is between BW and him.

Yes, it’s bizarre, as the whole matter is irrelevant for 99.99% of the readership, most of whom are UK or European.

My limited experience of an ‘Asian climate’ in Hong Kong and Borneo on holiday trips is indeed extremely humid, but domestic premises are air-conditioned accordingly.

Buyer beware. 803d3 sucks. As current owner, have to change woofers once in yr 3 n again in yr 6. Tis becos rust very badly at back of woofers. And repair is expensive. Additionally, mid range front face stained very badly after 2 yr, so much so one might shy fm showing to guest that u bought a bad product. Buyer beware. Better speaker elsewhere that can last.
Based upon the deposits, doesn't look like water corrosion alone to me. More like saltwater or some other highly corrosive substance is involved.
