Hi, I have a Copland CDA 266 CD player, bought second hand 10-or-so years ago! Has stopped reading discs, whirring sound then nothing. Laser/motor drive defunct?? Is it worth repairing in view of CD players with such great reviews up to £2K mark?? Many thanks, Vince.

If you have up to £2k to spend I'd be tempted to start auditioning new players.

Depending on the mechanism used, you might even find that the parts for your Copland are no longer available, though if you particularly like it it would do no harm to find out.

There's some fine players out there for £2k, but see what the repair costs might be (assuming, as Matthewpiano says above, replacement parts are still available). The Copland had a very good review from memory I think, so it might take a rather impressive player to beat it.
