Hi everyone,

Has any one tried the consonance cd120 linear. I have mine for nearly 6 months now. I was looking for a cd player for many months and at last i found one to replace my aging Marantzcd63se. It is such a musical, open natural sounding machine. I compared it to many including the Arcam cd73t, creek evo, marantz cd7001, marantz cd6002 and the rega apollo. I just found it more enjoyable overall - voices and instruments have a very natural timbre and very vivid and lifelike.

Regards

Steve.

My mate had one and I have listen to his system many times (obviously [

I am not saying cloure sound is bad at all, in fact with so many dodgy recording disc around, it make sense. From what I have heard and comparing the CDP to other players I had, we come to conclusion that consonance's tube adjusted bright sound to sound smooth whatever cd you put in the tray. It roll off the extreme freq which seem to be a house sound of sigma delta DAC that is use in the machine.

I believe that we are all in this hobby because we love music and for that reason the Opera make so much sense, think of it as a good turn-tables replacement and you are not far off...something that many digital source can't do

and if you think the 120 is good, have a listen to Droplet 5.0. Gorgeous look and sound very close to Linn sondeck!

I don't think you are talking about the same CDP. The CD120 Linear doesn't have tubes, but it implements NOS.

ÿ

Among the CDP's I've auditioned, it had the most noticeably different sound approaching that of analogue, but have found others that are more exciting.

I am very positive that my mate's opera had a tube loop on the single end output! The XLR output were taking direct out of DAC though. I don't know if it was an option or not! I can ask him if you like.

Hi,

My consonance cd- 120 linear does not have valves, the cd2.2 linear version does. It also does not have the normal digital filter as well - I think thats why people say it sounds quite analogue sounding.

Regards,

Steve.
