My new TV arrived on Saturday, after months of reading up I opted for the Panasonic 37px80.

So cheers to everyone who gave me advice on this forum as I found it very useful and resulted in what I think is the right choice as I'm delighted with it.

Just a question on connecting up to the Virgin box. At the moment I've not got a standard aeriel so cant use the built in tuner so any advice on getting the best picture via connections etc would be great.

Cheers!

I assume you have the Virgin box connected to Virgin's cable network, and an HDMI lead to the TV. That should give you all Virgin's digital TV channels, and you can feed the surround sound via the optical digital output to an external multichannel amp or receiver if you have one.

If you want to make use of the built-in tuner in the TV, then a standard aerial connection to a rooftop aerial will pull in all the Freeview channels. It's probably best to get a professional aerial company to install a rooftop aerial if you don't have one.
