Hello to all firstly

This is my first post & hopefully you can help me

I have the chance to purchase a Marantz pm7000 and or Nad C320 amplifier

My question & concern is how to plllay music from Itunes or Spotify through these amps

I have searched and searched without finding any answers except the use of a DAC

i FEEL THAT MY BEST OPTION FOR EASE IS PURCHASE SOMETHING LIKE THE MARANTZ MCR6111 MINI SYSTEM

Though I feel an older amplifier will give me a nicer sound. My question is how to play music streams on one of these older amps

Regards

If so the answer is probably an Airport Express (£60 refurb store), send the music from your laptop/iThing via airplay to your preferred amp, no extra dac required.

If you are not Apple base, you should should check out the Chromecast Audio dongle (£30). In this case conventional wisdom suggests it should sound better via a separate dac, try it without (using the onboard dac) and see what you think. Make sure you check the settings to get the best possible quality, then if you want, try it with a separate dac.

These are wireless solutions, if you are happy with a wired connection, a usb dac is all you need, prices from about £25.

Thanks for your reply but am now more confused!!

You would plug the audio output from the Airport Express into your amp (of whichever model) and your iPhone will stream music to it via Airplay.

on the Nad but I still have a mint Marantz PM7000 tucked away, great amp. Roksans have come and gone but for some reason I've kept the Marantz. I may return to a passive set up with it as part of a 2nd system one day.

Thanks for some good advice

However my main music source is Spotify. I do have Itunes . I gather that the itunes would connect the same way with airplay

Shoulöd I wish to stream Spotify music to the amplifier wjat do I need. I have seen some good looking streamers but not sure how to connect them to my analogue amplifier

Chromecast Audio streamer, inexpensive dac, toslink input, phono out to your amp of choice. Simple and with a fiio D3 dac, less than £100 all up.

Or to make things simpler but a bit more pricey you could get the Yamaha cx -50 pre amp from Yamaha and just plug this into your co axe input or use the optical input . This will give you built in- dac which will bring you up to date and internet radio , Spotify , airplay and lots more for £299
