Please help, I have a Roksan k2 amp and Stream Magic6, I would like to add a turntable to the setup that allows me to convert analog to digital to store my records on my hard drive and play them through my Strean Magic6. I dont know what i need to purchase, i will want to buy a better turntable.

This works for me -

Any turntable -> Amp -> Tape Out Phono/3mm cable -> Laptop/PC audio in. Play and record using software of choice. Garageband works for me but others are available. ;)

Pretty much all PC's have a line in socket which as already said, can be used in conjunction with recording software (Audacity is good and free) to digitise an analogue signal. You can save the results as wav or mp3 files or whatever floats your boat. Usually these days your motherboard will have "onboard" sound however discrete PCI soundcards are available as well which will have one or more line inputs; these basically do the same job as USB or Firewire external soundcards, available from pro audio shops, that will do the job for you, arguably better than an internal soundcard. Most can also be used as a good quality external DAC - they just don't come with lots of brushed aluminium, an audiophile brand name and a high price tag. They are for people who record music, as in from instruments they actually play, onto their computer.

Many choices here: http://www.musicmatter.co.uk/audio-interfaces/usb-audio-interfaces
