component video resolution from a samsung hd870 dvd player

hello people..can anyone tell me what resolution the samsung hd870 outputs via component video connections. i have found so many conflicting answers to this question that i dont know which to believe. my plasma isnt hd ready so for the time being im looking to buy a decent budget player that i can connect via component. i would appreciate some help with this...thanks.
