Get a nice Project - setting the springs up on a Gyro drove me crazy - no dust cover either - the dust covers available make it look like a big goldfish tank so I use a plastic cover.

Not really no ! It is what it is - a thing of beauty but when you use the dust cover looks like fish tank wth a TT in !

was so easy with Rega !

Quite. I've noticed all turntables where you have to buy a cover separately look very odd and cumbersome. Actually they remind me of fly covers you see in bakeries

Good advice

Steve, is the cover that comes with the 'full' Gyro any better? Not seen one in the flesh.

If I were to get one then the full Gyro would be my pick. It's more of an integrated deck and cover was designed to be there, the SE was, in my opinion, a cost saving exercise to make it look similar to an SME 10. Wrong, in my opinion.

Listen to the man, it all makes sense great sound, practical, iconic design and future proof.

You know it makes sense, just walk towards the light..................*pleasantry*

It's only a wise choice if they're easy to set-up. If not, for numpty like me, it could be straight jackets at dawn (sorry Dawn).

If you're a little all fingers and thumbs perhaps a non-suspended turntable might be the better option. Having said that a Gyrodeck isn't that difficult and, if not moved, should not need doing after the initial set-up.

I had one of the first ever Gyrodecks ever produced for retail sale, only had my premises a couple of miles down the road. Very simple to setup, I also had one of the first suction record clamps, John never realy got to grips with that idea, it often let go befor the side had finished?

Moved on to a Rock with all the gizzmoes as they became avaliable, plus a few of my own . . . *mosking* Now there is a non suspended TT that realy can play serious music . . . IMHO

I'm having a first demo of the Pro-ject Classic (and perhaps one or two others stocked at the shop) next Saturday.

Still struggling to find a retail outlet locally that stocks the ClearAudio Concept.
Comes with speed change control, record clamp, different mat plus ortofon mc cartridge.

Check out analog planet

I'd like to help on this PP, but as I don't deal with any of the mentioned turntable manufacturers at the moment, I don't want to say anything here that will burn any bridges...

No probs. You need a bridge in the first place.... which I don't. *diablo*

I've decided to save up my pennies for something a little further up the chain. As I'm not a box swapper by nature, when I eventually upgrade the Leema I don't want to start looking at better tables. Whatever I plump for will be for keeps.

Booked a home demo for a Pro-ject Classic over the weekend and see how it stacks up in my own environment/system. However, woke up this morning with an ailment known as 'astinkingcold'.

Heh.... <tap tap tap> is this thing on.... It doesn't say Mono on the cart.... it's all a bit muffled !! etc etc

I think Brownz is alluding to the auditory abilities of your ears if you have a heavy cold on the way *smile*

<Whoosh!> That was the sound of the joke flying high and wide and missing PP completely ! *biggrin*

Taken a day off work. Something I never do.

Open the window and in flew enza (influenza). Leave it open, and out flys Pro-ject.

I'm back to bed with a Nightnurse (don't tell the wife) *biggrin*.

Can I recommend she administers a hot-toddy? You know it's right. 🙂

Didn't happen.

Been very ill. Had to visit a hospital on Sunday morning because of heart pulpitations. After undergoing tests the old ticker is fine, but taking strong antibiotics and betablockers to calm me down. This weekend has been a complete b#####d.

My condolences, would wish that on anybody. Glad you're still here though.
