Coaxial Confusion

Hello folks,

Im considering getting a dac to connect to my old Sony DVD player, but I am confused about the dvd player's coaxial out connection. It says above the socket - digital out. Would this coaxial out be compatible with current DACs ? Im confused because I read online of different sorts of coaxial types and I want to ensure I have things straight before I take the plunge into different DACs.

There are different forms of SPDIF, coaxial and optical. As long as the socket is labelled as "SPDIF OUT" or "Digital Out", then that should be fine to connect to a DAC.

It will be fine but you made need to change the DVD player settings to make it work with a stereo DAC
