The best bet if you're sufficiently interested to be considering this cable is attempt to borrow one and try it for yourself.
I have used Chord HDMI cables and £ for £ think they offer not only good sound and colours but great value for money. Buy and you will not be disappointed.

Hi there, I cannot comment on the chord hdmi cables but I'd instead recommend IBRA Pro Gold series hdmi cables. Industrial strength build quality that would put cables 8x their price to shame. Available for £7.95 for 2 metres from Amazon with a 10 year guarantee, what more could you want ? 🙂

Rule of thumb with HDMI cables;
Check that the cable meets the HDMI standard http://www.hdmi.org/index.aspx and if it does than it is safe to buy.
My recommendation as always is to go to a professional video/audio store and ask for their advice, as they will be able to supply you with what the studios that make the media you watch/listen to use.

chord recently had their wrsits slapped by the asa for making unsubstantiated claims on their products. If you notice on the website it tends to say things like " we think" and "we believe" rather than actually being able to provide any proof of their claims. Feel free to make your mind up from that. Oh, and the people who's job it is to create the HDMI standard standard say that proving the cable meets a particular specification then it will not anything above and beyond that. So whilst the companies are fine to slap the certified HDMI logo on the cables, they they go and make claims against that very certification. :doh:

The marketing blurb talks up the 6mm diameter so it is a lot thinner than the chunky Chord Active Silver Plus, so maybe that accounts for the difference?

I have just realised as no audio is going through the HDMI ofnmy Sky box as it won't output the 5.1 via HDMI I'm going to try putting the Supershield on it and the Active from the AVR to the TV I'll let you know if I get better result.b Anyway TV picture is dependent on broadcast but I do get a clearer picture than the old HDMI cable I had.
However from my BD player as it's a much more controled source, not only do I get cleaner audio but the picture detail tightens up and the blacks are darker (que slagging match) and have more detail.

It may be interesting for you to know that I have demoed systems costing 10k, 20k 30k and even 120k. All use HDMI cables that cost no more than £30 for AV.
