Hi All,

could anyone point me in the direction of the cheapest sepertes cd player they know that has a remote control with volume adjustment and a digital out. thanks

Ok, then eBay is your answer. Something like a Marantz CD63 or CD67 would be exactly what you need and with a bonus of a decent headphone amp. Had both units and they sound absolutely fine through their inbuilt dac.

Both can be usually had for around £50 postage included and sometimes less. Obviously postage to Ireland might be more. Absolute bargains for what sound they produce.

Marantz CD6000 KI Signature would fit the bill as I recall, althought I gather there are better older generation Marantz models out there.

wasn't dirt cheap in it's RRP guise way back in the day. I seem to recall about the £500 mark. I've tried to find confirmation of this but could only find mention of it on an AVForum thread. Still it wasn't a cheap player and I think underrated, perhaps because at this time there were many other good CD players knocking around.

Like I mention I still own this, in mint condition, I kept it for a good reason. A few years back I hooked it up as a transport to a Pioneer N-50 network player it sounded amazing. I recall as a stand alone player it was fantastic too as Gray mentions above. I also have a mint Marantz Amp the PM7000 sitting next to it. Which I enjoyed a lot.

So basically a reasonable passive set up just waiting to be paired with half decent sounding speakers. I don't think you can go far wrong with Marantz gear, even in vanilla flavoured black. ;-)

I did check eBay, few models here and there but quite expensive for old second hand models. I will recheck periodically. Thanks.

Are there any new models also. As long as there's a remote volume and it's a reasonable player I mightn't need the digital output

You're spot on with the original RRP of the CD600KI luckylion100.

£500 was too much for me, but when it was briefly discounted to £300 I went for it.

If you can find one for about £50 muljao, you will have done well. Good luck with the search.

(By the way, I know it's not the priority for you but all CD players have some form of digital out don't they? All mine have had)

Good to know I haven't completely lost my marbles. ;-)

I' fairly sure about 90% of seperates cd players have digital outs, but if it is a priority you still gotta check because there are a few that only have RCA out
