Canton DM55 remote control problem

We're onto our third remote control with this DM55 (Remote is RMB50546) and for the third time we've got an unresponsive DM55. Batteries are fine - the power light flashes red when I attempt to power up the soundbar. There doesn't seem to be any support from Canton (that I can see) and wondered if anyone else has had this issue?

Batteries are fine

...and presumably the normal 1.5 volt types (as opposed to 1.2v rechargeables).

In which case, after 3 new remotes, your attention must be on the soundbase itself.
If you give up trying to contact Canton, maybe take it to a repairer - preferably one that will provide free estimates.

Or, nothing to lose by opening the thing up yourself and having a look - at and around the infrared receiver.
Check that the receiver itself is in a position to clearly receive the remote's signal - and that there's no dust between it and the front window.
Maybe there's some identification on it (or its PCB) to allow you to obtain and fit a replacement (using only the minimum of heat necessary from a soldering iron).

Hi there I had the same problem only a few weeks ago the canton dm55 stopped responding to its remote control after a lot of attempts the system would come one
everything works fine volume input Bluetooth but again same problem it won’t switch off after afew attempts it switches off.
I contacted canton in Germany they replied and forwarded me details of some one in uk who could help I contacted them and explained what was happening to the system they replied it seems like the power supply board needs replacing it would
cost £180.00 Plus p&p

It's an old thread you're replying to @Unsworth.

With regard to your issue, £180 is over half the original cost of the Canton. Maybe the money would be better put towards a new soundbar/soundbase? 🙂
