Can you upgrade a budget turntable?

I have had a ClearAudio Classic Wood cartridge fitted to my Project Xpression I a couple of years ago and the improved is fairly significant.

Just wondering whether one could go a step further and change the arm? Or are budget TT's hampered by their internals?

Generally yeah, but look at the origin live site for ideas on where to start, particularly with motors. Alternatively, you might find it more cost-efective to buy a better s//h deck.......

plastic penguin:Just had a butchers on their website. It's probably cheaper to buy a new turntable. Although I'm intrigued to see the options, if you had the money you could be a hi-fi Dr. Frankenstein. Very interesting.

Though tbh I'd start by looking at Pro-ject's own power supplies - they do a couple, with differing degrees of accuracy. Their arms are very expensive to buy separately though, so again you'd be cheaper upgrading!
