Dear Sir / Madam,

Can you help?

Does a cable exist to connect a digital optical8 to 3.5 headphone jack female cable or a digital optical8 to RCA 3.5 speaker red/white female?

Hope the illustration helps!

Thanks in advance.

No, it can't be done.
RCA cables are electrical.
Toslink optical digital uses optical fibres carrying light pulses.
So the two are incompatible.

Thanks everyone.

@Gray- The Sony sound bar is HT-SD35. It has both optical8 & HMDI options.
Many thanks for your help.

You have already given the soundbar's model in your original post CET.
It was the Technics model number I wanted, just to see all of its available outputs.

When you come back with the model, can you just say why you want to play it through the soundbar? The soundbar doesn't sound better than your midi system speakers does it?

Thanks Gray for your reply.

Technics model - CH550 (4-part stack; RS-CH550 double cassette, SA-CH550 Tuner Amplifier, SH-CH550 Sound Processor & SL-Compact Disc Player)

I don’t have any speakers for the Midi HiFi stack anymore & would like to play/ listen to my old CDs etc through the Sony sound bar if possible.
Kind regards.

Here's a little device that might be suitable. The good news is that it will only cost you a total of £5.61 to find out:
It plugs into the headphone socket on your Technics Tuner/amp.
It should transmit the audio wirelessly 'up to 10 metres' to your soundbar (which has a built-in bluetooth receiver).
It comes with an instruction manual. You will see from the picture that there's a silver plug-to-plug adaptor fitted to it. I would remove that and use the plug-to-plug lead that they supply (to avoid physical damage to the Technics' socket).
It's got a built-in rechargeable battery, said to be good for 8-10 hours after a 3 hour charge.
Good luck. If you decide to go for it, tell us how you get on.
P.S. You might have to experiment with the volume on the Technics to avoid distortion being sent to the soundbar.
