Previous thread of a similar title reminded me of a gig I went to in The Deaf Institute, Manchester.

Mush to the dismay of my girlfriend I spent an unreasonable time at the bar trying to work out what the various speakers were.

Forgot to take any pics but found these on flickr.

See if you recognise any

lol this is going to be a long task for someone with more time and patience than me on their hands! I am currently working on a similar project, ish, in so much as I am collecting old hifi cabinets and then building them into new boxes to make my own old school PA. Mainly because having all the speakers set up like that in a wall is going to ruin the stereo spread of any track and will create lots of dips in the sound as you move about the room. Aaanyways, here is a little pic of the build so far, incase anyone is interested 🙂

forgive the mess, my spare room has turned into a storage facility and is rather cluttered. This is half the stack so far. Not really top end hi-fi but it makes a loud, warm and focused beam of sound (line array principles coming into play by having the vertical stack of drivers).

Cool! I'm pretty much certain the ones at the deaf institute don't actually work. Well they certainly weren't in use the night I was there but maybe someone on here knows different. Good luck on the project.
