Can I put my receiver in a different room to the speakers? Marantz SR7002

I am thinking of siting my new Marantz SR7002 in a cupboard under my stair accessed via the hallway.

This would mean that once it is on I won't have easy access to it from the viewing/listening area.

1) Can you extend the cable for the auto set up to allow me to still use this function?

2) With a remote control extender could I use all the functions of the Marantz without the need to touch the buttons on the receiver?

3) Will the on screen display show everything I need without the need to view the actual display on the receiver?

Thanks

1) Well, you could - or you could just run the set-up with the receiver in the same room as the speakers, store the settings then move the receiver to where you want it.

2) Yes, that should work fine

3) Yes, that should be fine too.

thanks Andrew

as for 1) -the speakers etc will be wired behind the wall so would not be able to move it around otherwise your idea would be better and easier!

Thinking some sort of 3.5mm microphone extension lead? Sorry if being thick but this should not effect settings at all?

Now answer my PVR thread and I will eventually be sorted out!

Not sure what the connector is on the Marantz microphone - if it's a straight 3.5mm stereo then yes that will be fine, if it's something different, like a four-contact plug, then you may need to have a cable made up to suit. But the extra cable length shouldn't be a problem - just make sure any cable you have made up keeps all the connections in phase.

Did that.
