I Have a set of Kef Q5s which love i am running them on a denon pma 350 mark II amp i also have a cambridge audio D300se cd player i have noticed voices sounding shrieky plus i find i need to have the volume control at about 5 to 11 to really appreciate the kef's sound.
I have about £1500 to spend on both seperates any help would me much obligedps my musical interests run from Mary Back, RnB , Dance and Hard house

I think the main problem is a lack of amp power, but you could do with a better CD player, too. I'd suggest you listen to some of the more recent Cambridge Audio ranges, such as the 640 series, or the likes of the Roksan Kandy combination. For a more affordable duo you could try the new Marantz CD6002, partnered with the PM7001 or PM70001KI amplifiers.
