I use front channel pre-outs on home cinema amp to connect to CA 540a. The volume on the CA has always been set to 12 O'clock for convenience. I now notice distortion! Quite annoying, it's drowned out when movie is on but on pause or stopped the distortion is heard from sofa!

Is my CA on its way out? I tried a different cable but didn't help.

Hi Matt,

It's hard to say without knowing a little more about your specific problem, age of the 540A and variant (Version I or II). If you could drop our customer care team a line we'll do our best to help. Also have a look at our FAQs to check there's nothing there first.

You'll find everything you need here http://support.cambridgeaudio.com/

Best regards

Err, if the movie is paused or stopped then presumably there's no sound, so how can you be hearing distortion?
