can anyone point me in the direction of callabrating tools or dvd i can buy from somewhere .

Depends if you want a bluray or dvd they are available from amazon clicky . You can find the THX setup on numerous dvd's & blurays.

This also depends on how seriously you wish to take the calibration of your TV, basics like Contrast and brightness can be adjusted using the THX test paterns found on numerious DVDs then if you want to take a more advanced route using a PC and sensor to propperly calibrate your TV.

The THX set tools are available on terminator 2 and the first 2 Aliens Movies on Blu Ray , or I suppose you could use the DVE essentials set up Blu Ray. It take some studying to work out how to use the calibration Options , but can give great results.

I used this, Spears & Munsil High-Definition Benchmark Blu-ray Disc Edition and found it fab.
