Budget system for small room

Hey all! :)

I'll buy a new audio system and I'm not familiar with Hi-Fi. I live in a small/medium room of 23m² and I listen mainly rock/hard rock/metal, but sometimes different styles like classical, films musics... all styles in fact. ^^ I precise sometimes I listen music loud enough. I want to have good (or maybe "normal" in Hi-Fi) basses too (so have I to buy a subwoofer? A column system?). I have a budget around 400€ (500€ max). Have you an idea of what I can buy for my criteria? I don't publish my researches because as I've said, I don't know Hi-Fi systems... :-/

I'm French so I'll command on www.thomann.fr or www.son-video.com

Thanks a lot! :)

Quentin

Edit : what do you think of that?

Hi. With your budget, a hi-fi system is a waste, especially for your desired listening levels. Studio monitors are what you should be considering, and thomann is a great place to get them.

If your source is a laptop, all you need is a Behringer UCA202 audio interface and a pair of Yamaha HS7 or, if it fits your budget, HS8. (alternatively, you could try to find a pair of HS80M, but especially if you're a beginner, you shouldn't buy used). Install a music player with a decent app (such as Jriver Media Center for Windows, dunno what for MacOS) to control volume and playback remotely and you're set.

But does not include any 'bling factor', essential in most systems.

For hi-fi use I have a distinct preference for the HS7, the 8 can sound a little unruly at times.

Dac choice is a bit in the air, the Behringer is fine but something like the Audioengine D1 gives desktop volume, plenty of choice.

A firend speaks about Bose 301 series V (I know Bose have special sound but I love this sound), what do you think about that? The amp will be this: http://www.thomann.de/fr/tamp_s100.htm?ref=prod_rel_141140_0

I don't need an audio interface, I've already an USB mixer. ;-) And my audio sources are Spotify Premium (so OGG 320kbps) or FLAC musics.

If you already have the mixer, then you only need the actives. You could also check Adam A5X, which are more expensive and airier sounding then the yammies. But for that music, trust me, Yamaha will kill the Bose (just intuition, haven't heard it). I have the HS80m for my desktop system, and Dream Theatre or Porcupine Tree are really forceful.
