Hi, moved into house and very old Panasonic micro system disappear here. There is a 54m2 (6 * 9m) room. Height ~ 2.8 m.

Listening CDs (rock, classical, lounge). Now it's cloud time 🙂 and I would like play music from network or usb/external hdd (flac, mp3 format files). Budget is up to £600-700. Less is better 🙂

What could you suggest? Micro system, separates? What speakers?

I'd suggest one of the following options:

Denon PMA720AE + Dali Zensor 3 (£500 total) + DAC of your choice

OR

Marantz MCR510 + Dali Zensor 3 (£700 total)

I'm suggesting the Dalis because they would be the ideal standmount speaker for a larger room, though you might also wish to look for a deal on the out-going Tannoy Mercury V4 (now being replaced by the V4i) floorstanders.

or try the yamaha as500/cd300 i heard these the other day sounded very good for the money and ive seen both units for under 400 together as a system and about 500 odd with speakers.......i might go for it myself
