Budget Speakers 5.1

Superfi's deal on the Quad L-ite package, if you can stomach the rosewood finish.

Otherwise, Wharfedale Diamond 9.0 pack from the same dealer for £100 less.

If you are happy with traditional speakers, I agree with JD wholeheartedly. If you want small, discreet speakers, the Jamo A10 set is great and way under budget.

Or if you want something somewhere between the two, you can pick up the Mordaunt-Short Genie package for around the £400 mark.

Thanks for suggestions, although I can't get on board with the Cherry wood! Andrew, intersting that you mention the MS Genie as I had previoulsly though about pairing them with a Onkyo 606?

They have been kicking arround for a while now but do you still rate them highly?

There are better packages out there for their original price, but at half-price they're still a pretty solid buy.

Cool thanks for your insight. I guess it's off to Richer sounds on the weekend to audition them?!

Cheers

Mission M-cubes? Not heard them myself, but they're meant to be good for movies but not too good at music. They are tiny though, which may help when negotiating with the other half.

My opinion get a set of Quad L-ite (£495) the only problem with this system is the Quad's are getting hard to find in any colour but Rosewood. I have the Quad's in Silver and am very very happy with them. I looked at KEF 3005, KEF 5005.2, Monitor Audio Radius, but got the Quad's as they were as good as the last 2 for AV and better for music, I really did not like the 3005 there just not as good as the other 3, and the Quad's at £495 are just silly, The link below seem to have Quads in Rosewood (£495)or Silver (£595) try for £465 in Rosewood as they were two weeks ago. http://www.weymouthhifi.co.uk/website/quad/quad%20lite.htm
