Happy new year all,

I've already got a freeview PVR, an upscaling DVD player and an Xbox360 plugged into my Toshiba LCD screen in my lounge, now I wanted to get some surround sound for the lot to plug into, presumably an amp and speaker set, 5.1 or the like (with the rear and possible front speakers on stands too!!).

Although hot on computers, I'm an absolute newbie to audio kit, just wondering if anyone has a quick recommendation for the bits I need? Can I get anything worth buying for £150-£200 or am I way under-funding the solution?

Cheers, Jamoi

As you've already got a DVD player, you might want to consider a simple 5.1 receiver/speaker package such as the Yamaha AV61 which is available from the likes of Amazon for £200.

Cool, looks good. I'm guessing that's budget end of the spectrum given my lack of money available to throw at it. Having said that, would I notice the difference by spending more, or do you need to be a proper audiophile for it to matter?

Cheers, Jamoi
