Budget headphone recommendation

Never owned headphones before. Got a birthday coming up so considering a pair of full size 'on ear' heaphones to use with my Arcam A38. Any thoughts on the main contenders between £50 - £100?

Audio-Technica ATH-M50 can be had for around £95 now. Great headphones good detail without being overly analytical, bass is also solid.

Thanks for the reply the HD558 seem to have a 3m cord as well which is usful
