Anybody know from previous experience, do any of the Exhibitors publish a demo schedule before the show to give punters a clue about what will be showcased when?

When I went before (just the once) my impression after leaving was that I'd spoken to too many reps talking about black, silver or wooden boxes rather than listening to things I wanted. I remember going into the Arcam room hoping to hear their AV receivers, but being disappointed as they seemed to be demonstrating their £2k D33 DAC most of the time, which didn't interest me in the least. Same with Cyrus, Naim and Monitor Audio. There were products within their lineup that I would have liked to listen to, but the opportunities to do so seemed a bit random.

I downloaded the guide beforehand, so I knew which exhibitors were where, but this time if a manufacturer was demonstrating something I was interested in, I'd be keen to know when this was happening, so I wasn't completely the wrong end of the hotel at the time.

No longer got the company car since redundancy came my way, so this year I'm going to use my bus pass, for the first time, to get into Bristol on Friday for the show. Means I can have  if I want. Maybe not in the Marriott though, hotel prices for  more expensive than many speaker cables.

Most manufacturers will use the show to demonstrate their new products. The problem with demonstrating numerous models in their ranges is that they'd ideally need a room for each product, which is very expensive. So it is a safe bet that whichever manufacturer you want to see has a new product out, that is what they'll be demonstrating. Occasionally they may switch between two or three products during the course of the day if they only have one room - I doubt there'd be a schedule though as they'll play that sort of thing by ear.

Thanks for the reply David, that's helpful to know, albeit a shame! If for example Naim are demonstrating their "Statement", then I'll be avoiding their demo room; in the current economic climate, what were they thinking? If they were playing one of their 'normal' products (the ones that aren't designed for oil barons), I would have been keen to listen.

Well, the usual idea is to showcase the very best or the very latest kit they've made, with the hope that you will be impressed with their quality, and expect that to trickle down to lower ranges. If they show a lower end model, they will lose out on higher end customers. More expensive the product range, higher the profit margin.

Dynaudio will be using Naim Electronics, Focal will be using a Naim streamer and a Supernait and there will be a Nait amp and Uniti range in the Bristol Suite. well, that's what the show guide says.

This didn't come out very well did it!!!

I would like to go. I hope to see Chord Electronics new headphone amp. Is this show the biggest in the UK? I have not made it before and wondered just how big and busy the Saturday will be.

It's the biggest specialist hi-fi/AV show, yes, and it usually gets pretty busy on Saturday.

hope to be able to hear some more B&W speakers this year. was dissapointed they were only there to show off their a5/a7 dock last year with a pair of 802 diamonds in the stand purely for decoration!

Well the new 600 Series will be launched at the show, so they could be well worth hearing.

Unfortunately I couldn't make it also due to last minute change in plan. I was very keen to visit Light Harmonic booth to checkout Geek Outs, I contributed to compaign for Geek Out and Geek Pulse and very interested to know how do they compare to likes of HRT and Dragonfly.

If anyone visiting and get the chance to get a demo of Geeks provide some feedback here that would be awesome.

Thanks

Seemed a bit odd today that there was no Marantz / Denon at the show. :? Chatting to Andy from WHF who indicated that they may have given it a miss as they had nothing new to demo. That would make sense, but it would still have been nice to see them there.
