fresh out of the wrapper, why are brand new albums so dirty nowadays?

always need a good bath before first play. Never a problem when I was a lad...

the number of times I've opened a new sealed cd,dvd or bluray and found specs of dust inside the case and even one time a fingerprint on the actual disc.

I believe it depends where they are pressed. I have not seen any increase in this phenomenon but in today's market God knows where many of these are being knocked out.

What I have noticed are their ability to make a spindle hole the correct diameter........ rat-tail file has been employed much more often than was normally required.

I might suggest sending it back. There's no way a newly pressed LP should have scratches on it.
