I have finally got myself all sorted for High Definition. Started out with getting a new Pioneer Plasma, Onyko receiver and just managed to get a Blue Ray player. Fired it all up and quickly realized that my 806 Onyko was putting out 7.1. After messing about for a while with no luck I glanced at the back of the box of my Blue Ray (Batman Dark Knight) to see in horror - 5.1 !! I thought that Blue Ray was 7.1 as standard. Slight oversight on my side to say the least, but I've started to look into this now and it seems to me that most Blue Rays are 5.1 - gutted!! Even the new Bond QOS is only going to be 5.1. My receiver has a THX mode which converts the 5.1 to 7.1 but that's not true 7.1. Quite a few films seem to have the Master Audio encoding, but to be honest would prefer a proper 7.1 soundtrack.

No question about the picture from the Blue Ray player (Panasonic) onto my Pioneer - its absolutly awesome! Very Happy. Bit gutted about the 7.1 though.

'The Bank Job' has 7.1, as does 'The Forbidden Kingdom' (I think that's what it's called. Jackie Chan, Jet Li movie)

Don't forget DVDs. The L.O.T.R trilogy (extended editions) have a DTS:ES 6.1 soundtrack.
