Hi iamthetimberman

I am in a similar situation to you.

At the moment my demo system includes a Yamaha BD-S1900 blu ray player connected to the Chord Electronics DSP8000 AV processor. I hope this helps -

The BD-S1900 is sending picture via hdmi to a Kuro screen (video output selected as hdmi on set up menu)

The BD-S1900 is sending audio via coaxial to the DSP8000 (audio output selected as digital out and set to bitstream on set up menu)

On blu ray discs i select Dolby True HD or DTS HD Master Audio and Dolby Digital or DTS 5.1 are sent via coaxial to the DSP8000.

Thanks

Spdif is the digital output, this should be in either the toslink/optical ot the coaxial, you should connect the coaxial/optical output of your player to the coaxial/optical of the Amp, then check it is assigned to the designated socket and set the player to bitsream not LPCM or you not get any suuround formats, and set the video out through Hdmi, that should work with most player/amps/tvs

I have been playing around and have now used the 2 channel out from br to amp. it now works through amp but on front speaker only,

i have tried br and dvd same, Sound from 3,2/1,if i put a dvd direct in the xvd77 then it is full surround, Is the optical maybe faulty? or is the amp too old?, although it states dolby, dts etc

Please someone give me an answer
