Blu ray connection query

Hi everyone

If i was to buy a blu ray player,Is it possible to connect both coaxial out to use my amp to decode dvd's and also 7.1 analog outputs to use the players decoder for blu ray?

I wouldn't fancy having to go into the players menu each time i swap formats.

My amp obviously doesn't decode hd audio, but i do like everything else about it, so i am reluctant to change it.

I am using a Rotel 1056 as 7.1 with Rotel 1070 for front channels.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

It's possible but I don't think you'll find one which doesn't require you to go into the menu each time and change the audio output. Why do you want to do this incidentally? Best just to use the multichannel analogues and let the player decode everything onboard.

If i just used the multichannel analogues would my amp still use the surround back channels when playing 5.1 dvds?
