Bid on some atlas hyper 3.0 on flea-bay,lost out in the last 2secs :O

Anyway, having digested the latest round of speaker cable threads my question is this....can i wire 2 speakers with different cable to see if there is a difference?I'm kind of hoping there is,wife isn't

Currently have qed original....looking to compare against van damme(4mm) tellurium q blue and atlas hyper 2.0

Length i need is 2x5m.

cheers

Personally I'd rather try one set, and then the other.....but it shouldn't stop you giving it a go.

I prefer them terminated (makes a quick changeover much easier), but it's not "a must".

TQ dealers should give you some to borrow....and as for whether there is a difference, I'll leave that to your ears. :shifty:

You would need to make sure it was a mono signal, (So that the same was coming out of both speakers) did not fit the cables yourself, could not see them while you were listening, and then repeat the exercise 3 times in different combinations, (Under no circumstances must you see them being changed (Or not as the case may be) or have any indication of which is which) then yes you can.

Always worth doing blind tests on anything, as expectation Bias will always override what’s really happening.

On reflection i think i'll leave it to a retailer to audition a few.In my mind i do not believe cables make any real difference.

When at the dealer, listen to some TQ Black........IIRC Everyone on here who has tried it, heard a noticeable difference. Most preferred this difference, but not all.

hi gsb, when trying new cables always try to do it on your own system, because you will more likely to hear a change in your own system,so try a home demo if you can. always try to give a cable you try the test of time as cables can take time to bed in.one cable i would recomend is xlo cable, you can find the dealer on and its called music design company.hope that helps.cheers david

I'm not actually suggesting you buy 5m, as that's very expensive; but I'd like you to (possibly) hear the effect of spending on cables....and this is a good cable to experiment with (imo).

I look forward to your impression.

From reviews i have read and trust i can believe the black would offer a very, very significant upgrade over what i have.Tbh the blue is as much as i could possibly justify to the Mrs.The dealer i mentioned appears to be an online one only,so i'll call them soon.Iv'e been searching for retailers but they tend to just carry the likes of chord and qed.

It was your comment "I don't believe cables make any real difference" that led to my suggestion. I think you are right to look at more sensibly priced Atlas and TQ Blue, so it was only out of possible future interest, that I made the suggestion.

I want to believe that a £20pm cable can improve on the sound i already enjoy....but i'm sceptical.I do however believe £55pm cable would improve on the sq,to what degree will be interesting.

I need to find some retailers for initialy, then if i can justify i can home audition

Your thoughts and opinion are most welcome cno.

I never want anyone to accept my opinion as gospel, but form their own having tried it......as putting a value on what you hear is personal.

Scepticism is a useful ally when testing cables.
