Hi all, just a quick question, at the moment I biwire my speakers via 2 connections at amp to 4 connections at speaker, if i'm right my cables can't support biamping as they needs to be 4 connections at speaker & amp side.

Does this mean I need to change or alter my cables to suit biamping as at the moment they are terminated, nordost flat line gold btw.

You could use what you have for half of the connections you need (Youd just have to leave a left and right hanging loose at the speaker end)

Yes good idea and get 2 other runs for each speaker, is it worth the extra outlay to bi-amp I wonder ???????

These are just my own personal comments -

I dont like nordost cable, so I wouldnt use them at all

Van Damme UP LC-OFC is fantastic cable for very little money which I would personally recommend over any cable under 15 quid a meter

I also believe many speakers sound best when NOT biwired/biamped

But if a speaker sounds better biwired, it should be better still bi amped

Dont confuse 'better' with 'different'. Most speakers will seemingly sound better as bass and treble tend to be a little more 'in your face', pretty much like adding a graphics equaliser and boosting the frequency extremes. But theres a hole where the crossover section is. This will usually affect voices and the like.

I had my speakers bi amped for a year before trying single wired, single amped and im much happier with my set up now.

Happy new year.

As an alternative to having to buy completely new cables, you can get Nordost cables reterminated through a Nordost retailer.

The cable has 4 runs of cable running the length of the cable (as with many biwire cables) with 2 lengths joining for each of the 2 plugs at the amp end. Retermination simply changes this to 4-4 and isn't too expensive if memory serves.

A Happy to year to you to.

Yes, that might be the best option all round if I can find a retailer in the Rep. of Ireland, any ideas folks....
