Does anyone know if I would benefit bi amping my DC6T speakers from my Denon AVR2808. THe amp gives you the option to bi amp using the (unused) rear channels for 7.1 surround. THis allows me to have 5.1 surround with Bi amped front L+R. would this make any difference what so ever in sterreo mode ??

Yes, having used other speakers in that range I think it would. Should tighten up the bass a bit and give more detail.

Andrew Everard! I am Phil Everard - Must be distantly related somewhere !

What is your opinion on room eq? I was told I should always reduce frequencies but i cant seem to get a rich sound without attenuating frequencies quite high. Do you think my AVR2808 is totally inadiquate for the 3K of speakers I have ?

Third Cousin Phil, where have you been all this time???

I wouldn't say the 2808 is struggling, and I think the biamping will help in this respect. I've found room EQ works pretty well if you do it on some scientific basis: if you want to go all the way, a programme such as the ETF Analyzer (free demo download), used with a microphone and your laptop, will let you check what your speakers are doing in the room, and allow you to make adjustments.

Great advice thanks, However using this programme will the response be subject to the Polar response of the microphone used ?

THanks

Yes, the program is actually calibrated to use one of those Radio Shack sound pressure meters as the microphone, but other mic responses can be programmed

The alternative is something like the XTZ Room Analyzer, which comes with its own microphone, but by then you're into about £150.

This is the last time i will bother you!!!

Another issue which may effect the sound is that I have used reletively cheap speaker cable....I am running £3000 of speakers using a 40M roll of speaker cable from CPC which I think cost me £40 !! the cable is reletively thick but from speaking to people I seem to get a 50% split to whether spending 100s punds on cable will make the greatest bit of diffence.... Bearing in mind all my cable is buried in my walls so would be an expensive re think !
