best way to connect sony 760 to onkyo Sr875

Which is the best way (audio) to connect my Sony s760 dvd to amp onkyo SR875 - i am currently using hdmi - what settings should i use.

Yes HDMI, player set to 'auto' output, and Onkyo on default settings, so that audio formats are decoded as they are.
