Hi,

What's the best lcd tv for watching fast moving sports; 32" , 37", 42" ?

I was told that plasma is the best for sports, but that it's best watched in a dark room.??

So I'm thinking about an lcd.

Anybody some experience with the premium Philips 42 "9664 "?

sonys w and z series , samsungs 6 , 7 and 8 series all do motion very well , with the sonys getting the most praise , if your considering a philips , id check out this thread .....

yes , plasmas look their best under dim lighting , but the latest g10 , v10 plasmas are still quite good in the daytime , or with bright lighting , maybe not quite as punchy as an lcd , but then they are more natural , imo , and are great for sport ...

they are now discontinued , but richer sounds are advertising them , id ring to make sure they are in stock though ...

I've watched a few LCD's recently, and I have to say, fast moving action is rubbish compared to my 28" Sony CRT. The sets I've seen are Sharp 37", my Brother has bought a Samsung 42" and some friends have a Sony Bravia 32". Very disappointed with picture quality.

Cant comment on the others, but my Sony 46W5500 is absolutely sound for movement since its been properly set up (Most people have the wrong 'film mode' setting on)

For what it's worth, I'm with Maxflinn - it has to be plasma every time. It sounds like you need to get a proper demo. The dark room stuff simply isn't true, although the picture is better when the room isn't too bright.

Same hear,i have a sony kdl32d3000 and it gives stunning pictures, have motion flow set to standard.the tvs getting on a bit now, will be 3 years old in june,I also have a sony kdl32v2000 and that tv seems to get better everytime i watch it(only freeview, dvd, sky magic eye)the colors look so good. The biggest problem is that when joe bloggs gets his/her tv home, its just plugged in with no setup at all, everything left on full, when you calibrate most tvs then thats when you see the improvements.with lcd tvs let them "warm" up a bit to.

Plasma, plasma, plasma! And for Gawd's sake don't get a Philips, IME they're absolute rubbish for sport/motion - even bowls, dressage or curling will look a shimmering, smeary mess.

Hi aliEnRIK,

Does that included watching sports too?

Yes and no

So we're clear, NO tv is good for sport as the framerates are just not there (Even the mighty Pioneer 500A, considered the best tv in the world has golf balls that jump around)

Until framerates are improved upon (Certainly doesnt look like it will happen this decade), sport will never be 100%
