hi there, my budget is £250. i'm thinking maybe the marantz cd6002. someone advised me to buy the rega apollo but thats out of my reach. currently im listening to music through my 80 gb ipod and my project headbox is connected to my denon m31. basically i want to buy a cd player which will significantly improve sound quality.

Marantz 6002 is currently at £200 at Richer Sounds. Cambridge 540 or 640 also in budget.

i think i'll probably end up going for the marantz. i think its currently in a sale in sevenoaks £230 i think. i just hope its a worthwhile step up from my ipod

It is a great deal, and would make me buy it over the Cambridge now (though my Cambridge is still a fabulous player, despite being usurped by my new arrival). But you say "i want to buy a cd player which will significantly improve sound quality" - I think you'd be surprised at what your iPod could do with a proper dock and lossless files on it.........
