Help needed please. Just ordered the Yamaha RX-A3020 from Sevenoaks to go with a B&W MT-60D set up. Now i'm thinking about partnering it with the Oppo BDP-105. I'll definately use the stereo analogue outputs on the player, but not sure if i'd use the multi-channel outputs, though i do own a few SACD's. Is this player a good match for the amp and speakers? All suggestions and comments welcome.

Hello Nexus88

Welcome to the forums, The oppo is a fanastic player, if music is your thing as well as movies then its a no brainer, using the Multi channel outs will certainly give you benefits, other wise the 103 would be an excellent buy, Big Boss is the man to get all the info, me personally the pioneer 450 is my next purchase purley for play back of movies and SACD not fussed about all the bits and bobs... 8)

Thanks Pioneer 7, a work colleague has just got the 450 to go with the SC-LX56 amp, Monitor Audio Radius 7.1 and Panasonic projector, and he's more than pleased with it. I listen to a lot more music than he does, hence the reason for looking at the Oppo. I've heard the Arcams (blu Ray players) have reliability issues, also thought about the Marantz 7007. The problem is that I live in Devon, and don't know where I can get a demo with the Oppo.

Agree with others. Bear in mind that all the goodness of the 105 as compared to the 103 is in the analogues. Through HDMI, both are exactly the same.

Check the stores which stock the Oppo:

Thanks bigboss. Would you say that just using the stereo analogue outputs warrants the extra cost? I do listen to a fair bit of music.

To add a bdp of same quality plus a seperate dac would probably cost more than the 105.I'm realy happy with mine, although i have added an integrated stereo amp (105 analogue into) for better stereo duties.

Using the analogues for films means loosing the YPAO on your avr tho,but its fun switching between that and hdmi(iv'e got the two configured with the scene buttons) :)

I think my minds made up on the 105. Do I chance buying without a demo and trust the forums? (It's worked before!) Any suggestions on the analogue cables folks??

£1000 is a lot of money. Definitely demo, even if it means travelling a bit.

There are unhappy owners as well.

More importantly, you have a class leading AV receiver. Compare its performance with the 105 & be certain it's worth the extra outlay.

Thanks bigboss. Think i may have a trip up to the south east next week, visit the relatives at the same time. Kent home cinema's in Tunbridge Wells so not to far. Need to ring them first though as i want the machine to be multi-region.
