Hi there,

I'm very close to completing my setup, I have the following:

Sony KDL50W829 LED/3D TV
Yamaha RX-V675 AV Receiver
Monitor Audio Vector 5.1 Speakers
Sky+ HD Box

All this kit is new, I just need a Sony BluRay player to match my new TV it 'must' play YouTube videos in HD, send DTS properly to my AV Receiver so on my Yamaha I can see 'DTS' instead of 'PCM', the player must also have x2 USB ports (front/rear) and play MKV files.

Anyone know the difference between the Sony S4100 and S5100? These look ideal, also very identical, do they both use the same parts so colours/sound is the same?

Not really a big fan of these slimline Blu-Ray players, but I heard on the Sony x90 series of Blu-Ray players the YouTube and Apps aren't very good and don't play in HD.

I hope what ever is advised, pairs well with my Yamaha RX-V675 as from the box it supports everything DTS-HD/MA, 3D sound ect..

Please advise,

thanks!

Come on, surely someone can help?

S5100 or S4100? I don't care for WiFi that's the only thing 5100 has over the S4100, but in terms of performance which one trimphs?

Thanks.

Hey there DiNZi, perhaps look to the Sony BDP-S5200 ? (5* award winner as well) :poke:

Seems to do it all and can be bought for just £99.00 on Amazon.

Hi there just out of curiosity what set up did you have that only showed yoou PCM on the AV reciver? It could just be that the settings in your previouse player were set to output PCM instead of Bitstream. If the player or Mdiea device is set to PCM it will be doing the decoding and your amp will only amplify it. If the player/media device is set to Bitstream then it will send the audio for you AVR to decode then you will see DTS, Dolby Digital, DTS HD-Master and so on. Of course if the audio is PCM them that's what you will see and it's uncompressed like the Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD-Mater if you didn't know.

Let us know what player you end up getting and that everything works fine.
