if you do a search on here for blu ray sound quality you should get a thread which links to some sites that review discs not only on film, but also picture and sound quality.

I had it book marked but had to format the laptop since then so can't just post it here.

I would recommendd these titles, which also happen to be in Amazon's 3 for 2, so you get a bargain as well. Casino Royale £8.98, Die Hard 4 £11.98 and No Country For Old Men £9.98. You get the cheapest free, so you only spending £21.96 for 3 films not bad.Another few good titles i own would be Master and Commander, Blood Diamond and Spider man 1,2,3, all with excellent sound and pq. But i would chech the site earlier mentioned and look at Amazon. A couple of films there ive not seen on blu-ray Hitman and Jumper, might be worth a look. hope this may help

Speed Racer

The Incredible Hulk (probably my best Blu - Ray, stunning film overall and picture/sound quality to match)

Thanks, Rorschach.

The Dark Knight (unbelievable home cinema experience, second only to when I saw it in the Manchester PrintWorks IMAX)
Pirates of The Caribbean Trilogy (a sumptuous AV treat with about 3 years of extras to get through. Make sure your windows are secure!)
Dr.No (Lowry remaster, sparkling, almost 3D pic quality)
Black Hawk Down (reference sound and picture quality)
Zodiac (direct digital transfer from the original digital apparently)

All the above will blow the pants of any mortal that hasn't experienced Blu Ray yet.
Plus they are good films in their own right of course.

A special heads up to the pure nonsense that is "Transformers" as well, almost lost a tooth filling with that baby.
And lest ye forget, "Matrix" of course.
Talk about a system workout, both for your hi-fi and your senses.

Still don't understand the purchase of movies. Why oh why?

Unless it's kids films or something like Planet Earth, Blue Planet etc, why would you watch a movie more than once, twice if it's a classic?

Perhaps its because certain people enjoy waching them more than once, sometimes if you watch a film twice or even three times, you may pick up something you missed the first time you watched it.

People buy dvds etc because they think the film is worthy of a purchase or maybe they like to collect because there a fan of whatever it may be i.e startrek, starwars, terminators etc..if you like planet earth go buy, other people wouldn,t , simple stuff really.

Yerp!

I've seen Zodic three times now and still find the plot intriguing and the performance from RD Jnr mesmorising. Same for Memento and Fight Club.

I must have seen something about Mary 50 to 100 times and still laugh! To be fair its funnier with friends.....which I dont have....obviously as I sit at home rewatching crappy old movies and posting my insignificant thoughts online.

To answer the OP:
1. Wall-E
2. Zodiac (directors) - Was £8.99 on Amazon, though it fluctuates like Pork Belly stock
3. Hancock

I only have 3 of real merit, so wont string it out.

Totally agree about "something about mary" very funny especialy when something which i cant say gets caught in his zip, when he gets something in his hair, when the dog catches fire .

How many times have we been through this, Joel? I've watched The Dark Knight five times this year alone!

If you don't get it after the number of times I've been through it, you're never gonna get it I'm afraid!

Hmmm perhaps I need some Bond in my collection...I've heard some great reviews of the remastered old stuff and have yet to see QoS. Maybe when its available for £10/£12.

The new Bonds repeatedly find their way into my player for a spin. ÿDefo worth it! ÿI for one have a bit of a collection of BDs on the shelf. ÿI usually watch in the cinema (though this is getting less and less) or get them in on Lovefilm first, and if I really like the film I'll certainly be up for watching it over and over again. ÿHelps that the wife falls asleep watching movies so it usually take 3-4 viewings before she's seen the whole thing.

Top 3 for Quality at this moment;

1 Quantum of Solace

2 Kung-Foo Panda

3 Master and Commander
