Hi guys,

My Denon AVR 2809 has died. I have B&W 600 series 7.1 speakers. ( I only know the towers are 683). It's for a home cinema. Any recommendations which amplifier to go with these speakers? Mainly to watch movies, budget less than AUD3000. I'm keen on the Pioneer SC-LX58.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi Kratos,

I'm using Pioneer LX87 with B&W CM series and it sounds quite nice, but it was very difficult to calibrate to get it that good.

I demoed a Yamaha previously and also owned an Onkyo and they all sounded better out of the box, but the Pioneer (for me)won overe in the end. But like I said, it took a lot of work.

All three are probably worth your while demoing though. I've also heard that Maratz can sound pretty special with B&W, though I've not heard this combination myself.

Thanks

Kratos,

I use an Onkyo 905 with B&W 685 Theatre and I love it. I heard a Yamaha recevier with B&W 684s and 685s as rears and I loved the Yamaha sound and If my Onkyo died I woud definitely audition Yamaha again. At a different time I heard a Pioneer 85(?) but it just was not my cup of tea, but I know lots of people here love them! I wish you luck auditioning for your new recevier.

Best wishes

Chris

+1 for Onkyo too.

I used to run an Onkyo 905 with my CM's and it did sound good. This died, so I replaced it with an LX87, but I still like the sound of the 905.

Thanks everyone. I ended up very happy with the Yamaha Aventage 2040. Easy to set up. The Pioneer was great too and the difference to me the novice was very small. The remote is easy to understand compared to the Denon.
