Best 42 inch TV?

I have been charged to buy the best 42 inch (or near) TV for 2D picture (3D a bonus but not essential). I am thinking Panasonic, is this correct?

i am very happy with my Panasonic 42VT30, but there a couple of factors to consider - what are the lighting conditions like in the rooms where its going? I would say plasmas do better i lower light than LCD.. what are the main viewing sources? HD, SD? Is Freeview HD, Freesat HD a factor?

Thanks! The room is quite well lit and the main viewing source will be Sky HD.
