Has anyone got the bdt500 to recognise their synology nas? I have turned on media server On the NAS but the bd player does not recognise any servers on my network. Any ideas?

Thanks

Im having the same problem - well ish - I cant get mine to talk to my router or my pc.

Its far too complicated for my techno fear brain.

Any tips on this would be appreciated too - in simpleton terms please.

Edited.

Well actually thats not quite true - it does talk to my router because I can do all the updates wirelessly.

But dnla to Vaio - not anything - I cant work it out.

All i can say is that i've had no such issue with my WD My Book World NAS drive over DLNA, after setting up my BDT500 it registered very quickly and i've had no issue accessing it through the player. Have you tried the Wi-Fi direct option of connection? You need to have the I.P address of the NAS and the name of the folder you want to access but it may be an option, if your NAS has a password set then you will need this to but it's worth a go.

Other than that if your Synology NAS is recognised by your computer and network then it may well be the case that it's simply not supported by the player...worth a call to Panasonic for advice imo.

Sorry i couldn't be of more help Chisy1, it must be very frustrating.

I've never been able to get my Acer laptop recognised either over DLNA despite all the settings being correct, i'm of the opinion that the player simply doesn't support Windows media of any kind as i can find no technical reason for my laptop to not be recognised...gutted, but not a major loss as all my files are stored on my NAS but was hoping to experiment with streaming through the laptop :?

TVersity works...i forgot all about it tbh and just tried it, instantly recognised by the BDT500 and doesn't limit you to just audio files like Asset UPnp does (i think) and so any files will stream to my BDT500 now, nice!

Thanks, I will try wifi direct.

I am so used to Apple products that generally do just work...I thought DLNA was universal, but perhaps not

Guys, I had no problem setting my BDT220 up with my synolog it all works like a dream from the connection part. Its setup was far better than the sony i tried.

My problem with stereaming, is it will play all my own ripped dvds and music, but when it comes to my ripped bluray (all ripped by DVDFAB and or handbreak and used MKV to MP4 or direct to MP4) it sees the file starts to play then stutters it the same through my pioneer dvd player and SC LX83 receiver. However when i stream them diresctly to my computer they play perfectly so i know its not the ripping. They are directly wired. Any ideas
