Battle of the Samsungs

It looks like Samsung are on a bit of a roll at the moment with their TV's. Two sets I know the WHF team are keen on are the UE46B8000 and PS50B650.

Would it be fair to assume that at a viewing distance of about 3.5m either set would be fine from that perspective?

What are the main differences apart from one being an LCD and the other a plasma along with the increased size/weight?

OK then more specifically - would I be better off buying the smaller, more expensive set? If so why?

Does anybody have a view on this? WHF team what do you think please?

Sound isn't a problem as it will be going through an AV amp. Mostly I'm watching sport on Sky HD. I need to buy a set in the next few days so have to decide.

I would recomend the LCD, I have tested both for an hour and although PS50B650 has better black then LCD but for better technology and go-green approach 46B8000 is better. I would also wouldn't discount Philips either 9664 or 9704 both sets IMO are better then Samsung but's my opinion and not WHF's.
