Ball bearing in gyrodec

I am about to change the bearing oil in my Gyrodec for the first time. It’s never been been changed in years.
I noticed some chatter on the Internet about replacing the stainless steel ball with a ceramic silica nitride ball.
But opinions were divided. I don’t want to do any harm. Should I stick with the stainless steel ball?

Nothing wrong with having balls of steel.
