Balanced Vs. Unbalanced

Having recently acquired a pair of Sennheiser HD650s, I started wondering about the differences between balanced and unbalanced cables (assuming I get an amp that can run in balanced mode/has balanced outputs).

Does anyone have any experience with balanced Vs. unbalanced headphones? Is it basically a waste of money?

No it's not. But I personally wouldn't swap a pair of headphones for a pair of balanced headphones as the differences are slight. If however, you are looking to buy some new headphones and fancy some balanced then why not. It's no different than hifi, as I said the differences are pretty small but some will want that extra 2%.

With the 650s I think it's just a matter of a different cable. A little pricey, but I may give it a go down the line.
