B&W M1 speakers (Minus sub)

They're fantastic little speakers, but probably need a sub to get proper low end for movies. However, given 5 would normally cost you £625 at retail price, that's a good offer and you could always add a sub later (like the B&W ASW608, the ASW610 or even the PV1) for a great surround system.

Chuffed with mine. Buy and enjoy.

If they're not new, make sure they come with the chrome table-top stands and the colour-coded wall brackets in the box. The number of dealers who told me the wall bracket was the chrome stand swivelled around, was unbelievable. It's not.

AHH ive been a little put of these thinking the chrome stand was also used as the wall bracket.............

Chris any chance you could post a pic of the m1 sat on its proper bracket?

thanks

The wall bracket? I'll try.

Sorry Chris, i should have asked if you've wall mounted yours first, dont worry to much if its going to be a pain in the backside.

I'm very interested in these.....only concerns I have are that I would be downsizing from front floorstanders, full size centre and di/bi pole rears. Am I going to lose the scale of sound that I'm used to or with a decent sub and correct receiver set up will these sound better?

No probs. 5 of the 7 are wall mounted, so I'll try and sort a pic out sometime today.

I don't know about sounding better. Style speakers were created for people who didn't want 5 or 7 full size speakers dotted around their room. A regular speaker package will undoubtedly sound better.

However, the MT30 is a great performer in its own right. I can hand on heart say that I'm 100% happy with my set-up. It'll go stupidly loud when I want it to, but is also perfectly happy at low levels when just watching a bit of TV. There's detail, punch and power whenever I need it.

Try and get a demo if you're not sure.

I was also led to believe that the big silver base doubled as a wall bracket right up until I was actually buying the speakers!

Here are a couple of photos of one of my surround speakers:

Worth noting that the arm can be configured to be at the other end of the speaker so for
example, the ball joint could be at the bottom rather than the centre as
I have it here. Depends on your placement and whether it's being a centre speaker or not.

I'm gonna give these a miss for now then. I have a pretty good set up at the mo' except for the size of the fronts. Would hate to go to all the bother and then find out that the soundstage was inferior.

Thanks Chris
